Irmo police and firefighters will face off in Wild Wing Cafe’s Guns and Hoses chicken wing challenge this Monday, July 29 to mark National Chicken Wing Day.

Wild Wing Cafe in Columbiana Station, 1150 Bower Parkway, will host the showdown, just one of many special wing day offerings on tap at select WWC locations.

This year’s Guns and Hoses matchup begins at 6 pm. Four officers and four firefighters will each race to devour six blazing-hot Braveheart wings made with habañero peppers, hot sauce, Tabasco sauce, jalapeño flakes and more. The team with the first contestant to finish his or her share of wings – and clean the bones – will win a $200 catering package and its chosen charity will receive 10 percent of the proceeds from all sales made that evening from 6-8 pm.

“We are excited and honored to host this year’s Guns and Hoses chicken wing challenge. It’s an event that rallies the community to support our first responders while raising money for worthy causes. Plus, we’ll be celebrating the chicken wing phenomenon that’s here to stay,” said Jenna Chiles, promotion specialist/catering coordinator for Wild Wing Cafe and contest judge. “We wish both teams good luck, because they’re going to need it. Our Braveheart wings are insanely hot.”
