The Irmo Arbor Day Committee will be returning soon to Irmo with projects to enhance certain areas around town.
According to Irmo Public Works Director, Whit Cline, the return comes at a good time.
“We’re still working the project that council had approved at the corner of Harban Court and Harbison Blvd,” said Cline. “Hopefully by mid-January we’ll have a handful of other projects we can address.”
The Arbor Day committee has spent tens of thousands of dollars over the years for many of the beautifications in Irmo.
After differences between the Arbor Day Committee and previous town officials, the committee focused their efforts on projects in the St. Andrews area where they spent more than $60,000 in improvements.
“We’re excited about the improvements we are planning Irmo,” said Jake Moore, Irmo Arbor Day founder. “The Arbor Day Committee has plenty of money and there is no better place to spend it than here.”
