Congressman Joe Wilson presented Joseph Moore of Lexington with the Congressional Gold Medal for his service in the First Special Services Force (FSSF) during World War II.

Moore and other members of the elite U.S.-Canadian force were volunteers, putting service before self as they undertook dangerous missions to initiate liberation of Europe at Anzio, Italy.

Joining Moore at the presentation ceremony were his wife of 68 years, Melveline, his daughter, Frances McWilliams, and his sons Charles, Walter, Gary, and Roy.
