St. Andrews Woman’s Club (SAWC) members participated in a Day of Service January 20.
Members worked at three locations of charitable organizations donating time, service and goods. Recipients of this effort were Sistercare, Ronald McDonald House, and Sharing God’s Love.
At Sistercare, members worked to help organize items that had been donated to the organization. Sistercare provides services and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and their children as well as shelter and counseling for victims of drug abuse.
The Ronald McDonald House provides meals and accommodations for families of hospitalized children. It is located by Prisma Health Richland Memorial Hospital and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia. The Ronald McDonald house is a home-away-from-home with all the comforts and amenities of home, so guest families can focus on the health of their child. At the Ronald McDonald House, SAWC members prepared lunch for the residents, delivered meals to families in the hospital who could not break away from treatments, and made snack bags for the waiting rooms in the hospital.
Sharing God’s Love is a local cooperative ministry that works with community families and individuals facing emergencies related to their basic living needs. At SGL, SAWC members prepared 1700 flyers for distribution by local boy scout troops for the upcoming food drive. They also sorted and packed shoes that had been donated for local and international use.
