A possible kidnapper is stalking the streets of Irmo.
A white older female with either blonde or grey hair, wearing medical scrubs with designs and driving a red car (possibly a Hyundai) has tried to abduct male children two different times in Irmo.
The attempted abductions happened September 27 on Friarsgate Boulevard; in the 7000 block of St. Andrews Road October 3, near Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church; and on North Royal Tower Road. In every instance the children, aged 10 to 12, were walking home from school and the woman asked them if they would like a ride.
Irmo Police Chief Don Perry thanked the children for being smart and not getting into the car with the woman.
“They showed that they clearly understood what stranger danger means by their actions,” said Perry. “We hope that all parents will educate their children to be wary.”
Irmo Police, along with the Lexington and Richland County Sheriff’s department, have stepped up patrols in the Irmo area.
