Shepherd’s Center of St. Andrews will begin its Spring Session of Adventures in Learning March 22 from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Classes at this interfaith learning program for people aged 50 and above will be offered every Tuesday for nine weeks. Each session features a variety of classes and activities, plus lunch. The Center is located at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Road.

Spring Session: March 22 – May 17: Registration March 22

New classes for Spring Session include The Winston Churchill You May Not Know taught by John Mackintosh, an expert in British history; History of Jazz: Part II coordinated by Chuck Sovick; Smile: Improve Your Photography Skills taught by Michael Martucci; The Readers’ Circle coordinated by Professor Emerita Dr. Carol McGinnis Kay; Beginning Quilting taught by Judie Travis; Health Care Potpourri, 2016 coordinated by Dr. Charles Walvoord, local ophthalmologist; Religion and Science taught by Tom Campbell; South Carolina’s Role in the Mexican War led by Dr. Jack Meyer, retired military history professor at USC; Short Stories with Carol McAlpin, retired English teacher; South Carolina Ramblings led Dr. Rodger Stroup, retired from SC Department of Archives and History; Tai Chi taught by Robin Anderson; and Ukulele 1 (beginning) and 2 (Ukulele 1 graduates) taught by Deb McMurphy.

The Center also offers ongoing classes in Art: Perfecting your Skills with Watercolor with Dee Hansen and Pam Spurrier; Bell Ensemble conducted by Joan Marco; Continuing Bridge with Dr. Lew Johnson; Beginning Bridge led by Ron Billington; Creative Writing Workshop taught by Professor Emeritus Dr. Lisle Mitchell; Great Movies and Great Stars with Marcia Hendrix; Quilting taught by Catherine Ebling, Peggy Davis and Patricia Ceresoli; Spanish (Continuing) with Professor Emeritus Dr. David Hill; and Lynda Mixon leading Line Dancing (8:30 am).

Catered lunch with entertainment is available for $7; please make your lunch reservation for the first day by March 15 by calling the number below or with your pre-registration. Day trips to nearby places of interest are also offered. Pre-registration is recommended because space is limited. Registration for three classes per day for the entire session is $35.
