Members of the Irmo Sertoma Club have generously given of their time talent, and material resources and have taken an active role to help the community Columbia and Irmo area and continue to carry on the Sertoma tradition through a host of projects and sponsorships. Members aspire to succeed based on the highest rules of ethics and morality and provide their service to benefit mankind at large while encouraging individuals to reach their utmost potential. Sertoma’s primary focus is primarily to help with the needs of children with speech and hearing issues.
Over the past 50 years, the Irmo Sertoma Club has donated thousands of dollars to address the needs of the community. The club’s primary sponsorship is with the development of Camp Sertoma, a summer camp that provides children with speech and hearing issues a week with others facing similar problems.
The Irmo Sertoma Club officers include Joe Hawk President, Trevor Woodlief Vice President, Larry R. Scott Secretary-Treasurer, and James Blackwell Sergeant at Arms. The Board of Directors consists of Joe Hawk, Trevor Woodlief, Gary Currin, Bill Smoak, Robbie Boyd, Scott Davis, Gary Kiser, Jose Correa, and Larry R. Scott.
The Irmo Sertoma Club was recently recognized via a Proclamation presented by the International Sertoma Board of Directors for their 50th Anniversary.
