Paul Davis Restoration of Greater Columbia is celebrating the company’s 20 years of service for customers in Richland, Lexington, and surrounding counties. The franchise business is a leading provider of restoration services for fire, water, mold and storm damage and serves residential and commercial property owners. The firm is located at 117 Vera Road in Lexington.
Lucia and Bill Ellison, Paul Davis franchise owners started the firm when Bill wanted to build a house for his family. Bill was working in engineering at the time and had an interest in the construction industry. He acquired a General Contractor’s license and worked around his full-time job schedule to manage the construction of his home. The project inspired Bill and Lucia to explore the restoration business opportunity. Bill had a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Lucia had extensive professional experience in marketing.
During this time, Lucia was a stay at home mom with three young children.
“I still remember dropping my youngest off at school. I gave her a hug, said goodbye, and left for two weeks of Paul Davis ownership training,” said Lucia.
Afterwards, the Ellison’s opened Paul Davis Restoration of Greater Columbia in 1999, which has served thousands of customers with strong relationships and professional rapport with numerous local insurance companies.
The Ellison’s recall some of the obstacles they had to overcome including the nationwide economic crash in 2008 and the historic South Carolina flooding in 2015.
“There have been some tough times, but we always have great hope knowing this is a very viable business,” said Lucia.
According to Bill, the latest hurdle that affects the construction industry locally and nationwide is the shortage of a skilled workforce. “We’ve done well to consistently staff a great team. The Paul Davis brand provides comprehensive training for our employees to be the best at what they do,” he said. “We are always looking for the right individual who has character and wants to learn technologically-advanced emergency mitigation, drying out a structure, fire and mold damage restoration, among others. It is vitally important that we do this the right way every time,” said Bill. “We have always been able to serve our customers during their time of need.”
A recent customer shared that her home had damage due to a fire on the side of her house.
