Optimist Club of St. Andrews-Irmo hosted five representatives of Irmo High School’s International Baccalaureate Program spoke of their own experiences during the recent Snack Pack food drive.

The students worked numerous shifts at the food drive locations, greeting customers and explaining the program through word of mouth and through a printed presenter that describes the Snack Pack. One student in particular stated that her motivation was the fact that she could make students’ lives better in a tangible way. The Optimist Motto is “Friend of Youth,” and there is no more direct way to convey both the sentiment and the very real positive effect than Snack Pack.

After the presentation by the students, the assembled group heard an update from Congressman Joe Wilson, who speaks to the Optimists annually.
