The St. Andrews-Irmo Club held their annual awards breakfast September 29 at Irmo High School.

The meeting was an opportunity to distribute checks to the causes that benefit financially from the Club’s year-long fundraising events.

This year Optimists donated more than $40,000 collectively to 31 causes. The common thread for all those groups is that they either directly or indirectly impact the lives of the youth of the community.

The sources of the funds are the Optimist Tree Lot, located next to McGregor Presbyterian Church every year, and the annual Optimist Golf Tournament, held in late-May/early-June.
