We are pleased to announce that as of Monday, March 2nd, Michael C. Strange has joined Security Federal Bank as Executive Vice President for Community Development and Public Affairs. Michael’s responsibilities include establishing and deepening strategic partnerships between Security Federal Bank, community organizations, government entities, local businesses, and individuals; as well as attracting, engaging, and developing diverse talent across all business units and functions within our
two-state geographic service areas.
Michael is well acquainted with banking and Security Federal Bank. He has served as a committed member of our Midlands Advisory Board since 2016 and has over 20 years of banking experience, previously serving as Vice President of Commercial Lending for Security Federal, Wells Fargo and
Bank of America. Prior to rejoining Security Federal, he served as Executive Director for TN Development, Columbia Housing Development and Eau Claire Development Corporations for the City of Columbia for eight years. In this role he was responsible for property management and development of multi-family housing, single-family housing for homeownership, home rentals and commercial development. He aggressively worked with developers to plan and implement projects and partnerships to revitalize neighborhoods in disenfranchised areas of the city of Columbia.
His most recent accomplishments include completion of Edgewood subdivision, removal of blighted homes in several communities, construction of over twelve new homes, and assembly of land for
development of new affordable multi-family communities. Through this, he has gained experience with HUD Section 8 and other subsidized housing. He is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) with the National Development Council.
Michael attended NC A&T State University with a concentration in Finance and is currently an active member of the South Carolina Association of Community Economic Development, National Development Council and the International Economic Developers Council. He also currently serves as Youth Leader for The Brook Church; He is married to Gilbrina Strange and they have two children Christian (Brooklyn, NY) and Jordan (Georgia Southern Univ.).
