While bathing, grooming, feeding, or driving can all be uncomfortable, it is important to maintain the person’s privacy, dignity, and independence as much as possible. Join us and learn better ways to handle these sensitive situations.

August 22 from 11 – Noon, WELLNESS WORKSHOP: Improvisation Workshop

Improvisational training isn’t just great for comedians, actors, and performers – it’s great for caregivers, too. Improv helps caregivers adapt positively to the changes in their relationship and strengthen bonds. Practice and learn how to accept the unexpected, deal with uncertainty, respond positively to your loved-one. Improv training helps people learn to better think on their feet, deal with uncertainty, and prepare for whatever comes our way. Professional actress and Improv artist Debra Leopard will teach how levity can create a playground for people to take risks, strengthen their caregiving relationships and laugh while doing it.

August 28 from Noon – 1:30 pm, LUNCH ‘N LEARN SERIES: Living with Purpose (Part 1)

Everyone should have a purpose for getting out of bed in the morning – what’s yours? Author Stephen Covey said there are certain things that are fundamental to human fulfillment. The essence of these is captured in the phrase “to live, to love, to learn and to leave a legacy.” There is a direct correlation between purpose in life and grip strength and walking speed. Join senior expert Sandy Olsen for an introduction into living with purpose.

Art of Coping with Loss – Meets 4th Thursday from 6:30 – 8 pm

Dr. Delores Gulledge will teach how to use art as medicine when dealing with loss and grief. No experience required.

Caregiver Support Groups

You are not alone. Connecting with other caregivers, sharing, venting, learning from each other and our facilitators help you gain an understanding that you are not alone. Each of our groups below meet twice a month.

Evening group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6 – 7:15 pm

Daytime group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 1 – 2:15 pm

Caregiver Support Group for Early Stages of Dementia – Meets 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 11:30 am – 1 pm.

This is a group for caregivers and families adjusting to a new diagnosis of some form of dementia. It focuses on what you need to know, plan and do in order to live the best life possible in the midst of this chronic illness.

Grief Support Group: Finding Rhythm After Loss – Meets the 2nd and 4th Monday from 1 – 2 pm

Connect with others who have experienced loss and challenges that living with grief brings.

Keeping the Faith – Meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday from 1 – 2:15 pm

A non-denominational support group aimed to connect you with other caregivers throughout their spiritual journey.

August 1, discuss In Everything Give Thanks. August 15, discuss The Eternal Encourager. New caregivers are always welcome to join the faith-based group.

MS and Family Support Group – Meets the 3rd Monday from 1 – 2 pm

This is an uplifting group for those living with multiple sclerosis and for their family members.

Parkinson’s Caregiver Support Group – Meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 11:30 am – 1 pm

This is a group for caregivers who are caring for someone with Parkinson’s Disease.

Wellness and Energy Programs 

Beginner Line Dancing – Meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 1:30 – 2:30 pm

Have fun and relieve stress by learning basic line dancing routines. No experience needed.

Coffee and Canvas – Meets every Thursday from 10 – 11:30am

Ever feel like you just don’t get a chance to connect with others? Well, not anymore. Join in on Thursdays for social time filled with crafts. Refreshments provided.

Girl, you’ve got this. – Meets the 4th Tuesday from 6:30 – 8 pm

This women’s group explores the spiritual journey through teachings, meditation, drumming, yoga, chakras, mindfulness, journaling, other creative methods.

Men’s Coffee Club – Meets the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 9:30 am

Connect with other caregivers who have walked the caregiving path over coffee and breakfast.

SharpFit Brains – Meets the 4th Tuesday from 1:30 – 2:30 pm

Your brain has the incredible ability to reshape itself, to adapt and change IF you are willing to stretch it for as little as 10 minutes a day. Senior Expert Marsha Clayman will teach everything needed to know about maintaining the brain.
