LawyerLisa, LLC, hosted a socially distanced and surprise “hooding” ceremony to celebrate law clerk, Mackenzie Pearson’s graduation from the University of South Carolina Law School May 8.

Due to the COVID-19 university closures, all graduation ceremonies at the University of South Carolina were temporarily postponed with an unknown reschedule date. And while a small drive by celebration was held for the graduates, the firm felt celebrating such an important milestone during these exceptional times was deserving of something a little extra to applaud Mackenzie’s successes.

“I knew how important this hooding ceremony was for me and to know that Mackenzie was not going to have the same opportunity to experience such a special moment, was just heartbreaking. Our team put our heads together and reached out to Mackenzie’s family with our idea and they were thrilled. In the end, Mackenzie was totally surprised and there was not a dry eye in the room or from her family who was watching virtually from home. We knew it was not the same as what was originally planned but we think we gave her a special and happy memory that she won’t ever forget,” said Lisa Hostetler Brown, Managing Attorney.
