Irmo’s varsity wrestling team qualified for the postseason state duals as the No. 4 seed from the region and completed the season in the first round against Ashley Ridge last Saturday in lower state competition. As is often the case in playoff competition, the non-ranked Yellow Jackets were seriously challenged early in the tournament by facing the state’s sixth-ranked team, Ashley Ridge.

But the wrestling season is not totally done yet. The individuals wrestling tournament begins February 17, and that, of course, is also a very important postseason tournament for those participating, as it is for their school and community.
