The funeral service for Mrs. Irby H. Schultz will be conducted at 3 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Union United Methodist Church.

The burial will follow the funeral service and will take place in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, SC.

Mrs. Schultz passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017. Born in Marshall, TX, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Beatrice Mills Hinds. She was the wife of the late James Herbert Schultz. Mrs. Schultz was an active member of Union UMC. Former Governor Carroll Campbell awarded her “The Order of the Palmetto” and designated her “A Palmetto Lady” for her service and friendliness to the people of South Carolina.

Mrs. Schultz worked as a Legislative Aide with the State House of Representatives and was a weekly volunteer with the Lexington Medical Center Foundation until her death. She was politically active and was past President of the South Carolina Federation of Republican Women and prior to her election as President, she served in numerous capacities. In 1995, she was selected Republican Woman of the Year by the Foundation and in 1997, Former Governor David Beasely appointed her Auditor of Lexington County.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Schultz, Donna Barton (Brooks); grandchildren, Ashley Brasington Garcia (Mauricio), Kristina Trivette, Jaime Trivette, Celia Trivette; great-grandchildren, Carmen, Gabriel, and Ruby Garcia. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice Willett.
