It started as a play, and became an award-winning movie. Straight from London, Amadeus, the classic tale on screen, will show at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College this Tuesday, January 30 at 7 pm.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a rowdy young prodigy, arrives in Vienna – and he’s determined to make a splash. Awestruck by his genius, court composer Antonio Salieri has the power to promote his talent or destroy his name. Seized by obsessive jealousy he begins a war with Mozart, with music, and ultimately, with God.

“The production and the actors are larger than life,” says Kristin Cobb, Executive Director of Harbison Theatre at MTC. “This production is an exciting revival of the traditional play and comes across great on screen.”

Lucian Msamati (Luther, Game of Thrones) plays Salieri in Peter Shaffer’s iconic work, recorded live from London’s Olivier Theatre stage. The performance also includes an orchestral accompaniment by Southbank Sinfonia, a 20-piece orchestra that is fully integrated into the action to bring Mozart’s music to life on screen.
