Lexington-Richland School District Five will make up a school day lost due to a storm earlier this month. Students in District Five will now attend school October 6, which was previously scheduled as a teacher workday.
The district missed a day September 11, as the remnants of Hurricane Irma brought strong winds and heavy rain to South Carolina. October 6 is one of five possible severe weather make-up days included in the district’s 2017-2018 school year calendar.
“We consulted with our principals and staff to ensure our decision would provide the best possible way to make up lost instructional time with the least negative impact on our families,” said Katrina Goggins, director of communications for District Five.
The four remaining potential make-up days for District Five are November 6, January 2, March 30 and April 6.
