Chapin’s varsity football program remains perfect at 3-0 after last week’s 37-22 victory against Newberry, but exactly when the Eagles will play their next game is yet to be determined because of events connected to Hurricane Florence.
With the state government mandated school closings early this week, all school activities, including athletic games, are canceled until further notice. Rescheduling postponed games will take place later — some could be canceled, not rescheduled.
The varsity Eagles were to play the Vikings at Spring Valley Friday, and then play host to A. C. Flora next week, September 21. Following that, Chapin is to start Region 5-5A competition on the road against District Five rival Dutch Fork in the Eagles’ first-ever varsity football game as a Class 5A team.
All sports events and classes will resume as soon as practical, according to school officials and state government decision-makers.
If Chapin’s varsity football team resumes activity next week, it will be the home game against the Falcons, followed by the September 28 visit to Dutch Fork to open the region games.
