AT&T is now offering a 1 gigabit connection on its 100 percent fiber network powered by AT&T Fiber to customer locations in the Columbia area, including in parts of Cayce, Irmo and surrounding areas.
In addition to the homes and small businesses connected to the network in the Columbia region, it will connect 15 area apartment and condo properties.
AT&T previously announced ultra-fast internet speeds available in Columbia and parts of Richland County and surrounding communities.
The Columbia area is one of 51 metros nationwide where ultra-fast internet service is currently available. AT&T plans to reach at least 67 metros with the service.
“Our customers are increasingly interacting with their world in more data-intensive ways,” said AT&T External Affairs Director Ted Creech. “A growing number of people are streaming content directly from their devices, and interacting with family and friends through live videos. For these reasons, we’re continuing to expand the availability of our fastest internet speeds to more Columbia area communities.”
Internet-only pricing for customers who choose AT&T Internet 1000, the fastest speed tier on the fiber network, starts at $80 a month with a 12-month commitment. Customers may be able to add DIRECTV or U-verse TV services.
Internet customers on the network have access to the latest Wi-Fi technology. They can enjoy the in-home experience with faster Wi-Fi speeds and broad coverage to connect all their devices.
These internet speeds are 20x faster than the average cable customer. You can download 25 songs in 1 second or your favorite 90-minute HD movie in less than 34 seconds.
You can also quickly access and stream the latest online movies, music and games. These ultra-fast speeds let you easily telecommute, video-conference, upload and download photos and videos, and connect faster to the cloud.
